Monday 27th April - Friday 8th May 2026

This year, we are strengthening our commitment with the continued development of the Claims Academy — a two-week programme launched in 2022, designed specifically for next-generation international consultants.

The Future Is Now

Delegates will gain first-hand experience in the London Market, including time at Lloyd’s, with brokers and Managing Agents, alongside structured classroom learning — all culminating in their attendance at the PICG Conference.

 There will be 40 delegates attending the 2026 Claims Academy. 

Attendance will be via a formal application process. Individuals wishing to attend the PICG Claims Academy 2026 will need to submit a copy of their resume, together with a covering letter detailing why they would benefit from attending and also how the London market would benefit from their attendance.

All applications will be considered and a final decision taken on who gets to attend based on a number of factors, ensuring the right mix of skill sets, experience and diversity.

With over a decade in property and casualty claims management, she’s built a career focused on operational excellence, collaboration, and delivering exceptional service. Meghan leads initiatives that improve cycle times, strengthen catastrophe response, and enhance quality assurance across multiple carrier programs. Having worked on both the carrier and TPA sides, she brings a well-rounded perspective and a passion for connecting the U.S. and London markets through shared learning. Based in St. Augustine, Florida, she enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, traveling with her family, and cheering on her favorite American football teams.

    Kurt is an attorney and Partner at Kelley Kronenberg, P.A., specializing in First Party Property Insurance Defense. A practicing attorney since 2014, Kurt has spent the vast majority of his legal career advocating for property insurers and advising them on a variety of complex legal issues arising under both Homeowners and Commercial Residential insurance policies. He is a two-time cum laude graduate from the University of Florida, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and, subsequently, his Juris Doctor with a certificate in Intellectual Property. Kurt’s work at Kelley Kronenberg has earned praise from multiple insurance carriers for the first-class service he provides to his clients and for his ability to consistently resolve property claims to their most desired outcome.

    Katie is a Regional General Adjuster with Sedgwick, serving as the dedicated account manager for the State of Wisconsin’s insurance program. With 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Kathryn began her career at Travelers Insurance, where she handled large loss subrogation claims before transitioning into catastrophe property claims adjusting. For the past 8 years, she has been with Sedgwick, specializing in a wide range of complex claims including commercial and residential property, state and public entity, catastrophe, builder’s risk, utility, medical, industrial, manufacturing, agricultural, construction defect, general liability, and subrogation. Kathryn holds all-adjuster licenses in 22 states and brings a deep understanding of diverse claim environments and a commitment to delivering professional, responsive, and solution-focused service to her clients.

    Satchel Stump

    Satchel joined Halliwell in 2023 and brings more than eight years of specialized experience in construction consulting from a variety of major loss assignments throughout the United States. His experience includes site inspections, damage evaluations, scope development, cost estimating, on-site project monitoring, report generation, invoice and estimate analysis, and building valuations.  He has experience with commercial buildings, industrial complexes, condominiums, and high-end residential losses. Satchel lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laura, and their son, Archer. They are expecting their daughter, Isabelle, in November.

    Christina Jackson

    Christina works with domestic and international insurers in first-party and third-party coverage disputes. She is regularly consulted by multi-national insurance markets in connection with complicated, multimillion-dollar claims, primarily in the energy (petrochemical and power generation), commercial property, and builder’s risk sectors. Christina also gives advice on claims handling and policy wording issues involving property damage and business interruption claims, construction, and GL claims.  She also assists her clients in all stages of litigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution processes.

    Sahar is a Senior Associate at C. Lewis & Company, an independent forensic accounting firm serving the global insurance market. Based in Dubai, she specialises in the quantification of complex business interruption losses across the Middle East and Asia, with a growing focus on the energy sector. A Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) with a background in Australia, Sahar brings clarity and structure to high-value insurance claims.

    Landon Holder

    Principal Engineer – Large/Complex Loss

    EFI Global, Inc.

    Landon is a structural engineer with EFI Global, serving as part of the Large/Complex Loss group. He joined the Chicago office in 2025 and specializes in forensic investigations, structural analysis of existing buildings, condition assessments, and structural repair design. His expertise includes evaluating structures impacted by major disasters, construction defects, design deficiencies, and environmental factors. Mr. Holder has conducted numerous computer-based structural analyses to model the behavior of existing systems, supporting both forensic evaluations and the development of effective repair strategies. His project experience spans residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, as well as bridges, earth-retaining systems, marine structures, and other specialized non-building infrastructure. Licensed in over 20 states, he provides engineering services across the United States.

    Sophia Alvarenga

    Born and raised in Queens, New York, Sophia earned her B.A. in Philosophy from New York University. She later relocated to Houston to pursue her J.D. at South Texas College of Law. Following law school, Sophia practiced at a boutique plaintiff’s civil litigation firm, where she managed a broad spectrum of cases, including first-party property disputes, contract litigation, personal injury claims, landlord-tenant matters, and family law. At Donato Brown Pool & Moehlmann, Sophia maintains a diverse civil litigation docket. She brings thoughtful advocacy, strategic problem-solving, and a results-driven approach to representing clients across a wide range of disputes.

Ted’s prior experience as a licensed financial specialist and business analyst informs a data-driven, pragmatic approach to complex insurance matters and commercial matters generally.     Maria is a Civil Engineer with a postgraduate degree in Seismic Engineering Design. She has over 10 years of experience in structural and forensic engineering, as well as claims adjustment. Throughout her career, she has worked on the design of buildings and bridges and has served as an expert engineer and adjuster for complex property claims across the Caribbean and South Florida.

    Ted Thrower

    Ted is a Consultant working within the International Team at YA Group. Ted began his career in architecture working for large and small practices in London before joining YA Group almost two years ago. His experience in the UK construction industry is utilised within the International Team when attending site to undertake inspections, assessing losses against current legislation, undertaking scope of damage evaluations, and causation investigations. He has worked on losses in the UK, across Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean in the Property and Energy space. Ted takes pride in being able to supply technical knowledge to losses as well as being an insurance market representative for YA Group, meeting and collaborating with clients in London.

    Samantha Nugent

    Samantha focuses her practice on insurance coverage for domestic and international carriers, along with self-insurers.  Samantha also litigates declaratory judgment actions on coverage obligations and defends admiralty and maritime, general liability, and property claims.  Licensed in multiple states, Samantha regularly supports Chartwell’s Florida and Massachusetts offices.  Samantha also serves as national coordinating coverage counsel for multi-jurisdictional complex and excess claim portfolios.

He graduated from Doane University with a degree in Information Systems. Lex has been with NCC for over 3 years and has more than 17 years of experience in the property & casualty insurance industry. Prior to joining NCC Lex was a General Adjuster with eight years of experience in personal and commercial large loss property claims. Lex has both consulting and adjusting experience with numerous large scale and complex projects including manufacturing, educational, document storage, agricultural, hotels/resorts, multifamily complexes, builders risk, and high-net worth residential homes throughout the United States. Lex ‘s current duties include construction consulting, consultant management, enterprise-wide quality control, business development, and internal training & consultant development.

    Ellie is an ACA chartered accountant and manager at Baker Tilly. She works as a forensic accountant in the London office as part of the Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services practice, having joined the firm in December 2020 on the graduate scheme. Over the past five years, Ellie has gained experience on property, cyber, DSU and energy claims with a primary focus on the quantification of business interruption losses. Her work spans a wide range of industries including retail, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, renewables, and non-renewables.

    Sean is a Structural Engineer from Tampa, Florida that joined Thornton Tomasetti’s Forensics practice in 2022. He primarily focuses on investigating first-party property insurance claims, providing litigation support for construction defect cases, and performing structural and building envelope investigations throughout the United States. Sean also performs structural design and analysis for new buildings and restoration and repair design for existing and historic buildings. He specializes in structural forensic investigations for large, complex property losses, and in the structural repair and design of various building types including commercial office buildings, hotels, and multi-story residential developments.

    Valeria is a trained architect with specialized experience in building restoration and steel construction. She began her career in the insurance industry as a loss adjuster, focusing on complex and catastrophic claims. Currently, she serves as Operations Manager for the Insurance Consulting Group at Walter P Moore in Mexico City, where she leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the forensic analysis of property damage for insurance purposes. Her role bridges technical expertise and insurance strategy, and she is actively involved in business development, technical training, and international collaboration.

    Ethan is an Independent Adjuster with Coast Claims Insurance Services, based in Kamloops, British Columbia. She moved to the United States at age 12 and grew up in Naples, Florida, before relocating to Miami, where she attended St. Thomas University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2011. She brings valuable insight into Florida’s evolving legal reforms and their impact on claims handling.     Andrew Schmit

    Andrew joined Envista in 2014 with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University. Beginning in graduate school, he has focused his career on the field of failure analysis and forensic engineering and provided consulting services to various clients seeking litigation or subrogation support. He also has experience evaluating mechanical equipment post-loss to determine the extent of damage and scope of repairs, as well as conducting materials analyses to determine the origin and root cause of component failures.

    At Envista, Andrew has become experienced in providing analysis of mechanical failures involving property loss, personal injury, and product liability.
